Hello~~ How are you??

How was my first article dealing with the solution of air pollution? Was it understandable and useful??  I wish it has been a helpful article~!! Today, I would like to talk about government?s actions to solve water pollution~!

Seriousness of water pollution in Seoul is already widely known.  Pure water was changed into dark brown dirty water, once wonderful sea water animals lie dead, and people cannot drink clean water to maintain their health.  As the occasions got worse, government paid more attention to improve the current status!  Let?s look deeply into what actions they are taking~~!!

Firstly, Korean government is actively participating in many different world environment anniversaries.  Most current event happened from March 19th to 23rd.  In honor of the 20th World Water Day, Korea's ambition to be a green country was proclaimed.  By capitalizing the Water Day, they aimed to remind the public about the importance of water in the 21st century.  At the ceremony, the Prime Minister and the Vice Minister of the MLTM swore an oath of deeper devotion to water issues in public, reaffirming their determination to lead the way toward water protection against climate change.

On top of that, Korean government did Four Major Rivers Project.  The Four Major Rivers Restoration Project is the multi-purpose green growth project on the Han River, Nakdong River, Geum River and Yeongsan River in South Korea. The project was done by current South Korean president Lee Myung-bak and was declared complete on October 21, 2011.  The project tried to secure abundant water resources, implement flood control measures, improve water quality and restore river ecosystems, create multipurpose spaces and achieve regional development.

Lastly, government is adding environmental education in school curriculum.  They are encouraging more middle and high schools to choose environment-related subjects aimed at widening environmental education opportunities for the youth.  Also, they are improving education-al conditions including teaching materials and tools designed to enhance the quality of environ-mental education.  They made Performance and Evaluation Criteria for Environmental Subjects in Secondary Schools.  They aimed at designating and operating a total of 141 pilot environmental elementary, middle and high schools every two years.
