Going Green: India's Journey to Renewable Energy

by Yashaswi Hegde | 11-02-2023 02:46 recommendations 0

India, a rising economy, is facing a major environmental challenge. As it grows, the demand for energy grows too. And that energy has been coming mainly from fossil fuels, like coal. But the gov is now focusing on cleaning up the act. The shift is towards using renewable energy, like solar, wind, hydro and biogas.

Why ditch coal and move to renewables? Well, coal is a major source of air pollution and contributes to climate change. Renewable energy sources on the other hand, produce little to no emissions and help reduce the impact on our planet. And the best part, it's cost effective in the long run. Although the start-up cost may be higher, once installed, these sources of energy require very little maintenance and have a longer lifespan compared to traditional power plants.

India¡¯s transition to renewable energy from non renewable energy is spectacular. When we were kids, we used to see power cuts everyday. But as we transitioned to renewable sources of energy, the concept of power cut has disappeared. India which was once an energy deficit country is energy surplus now. India has encouraged people to adopt renewables, the gov is offering tax credits and subsidies. The government is also supporting big businesses to set up their own renewable energy stations.

India's transition to renewable energy is vital for a cleaner, sustainable future. It's better for the environment, cost-effective, and widely available. So let's keep moving forward, towards a greener future for all of us.
