Energy saving is important to our environment because is helps us to lessen our carbon footprint and reduce the carbon dioxide emissions leaked from thermal power plants. In these thermal plants to keep us supplied with heated water fossil fuels such as coal, biofuels, nuclear fuel natural gas. When this happens carbon dioxide emissions are leaked into our air. Here are a few ways we can save our environment by saving energy. Track Energy UseYou don¡¯t have to go out and purchase fancy equipment to cut down on your carbon footprint. When you make and effort to turn off appliances when you aren¡¯t using them, perform household tasks manually and cut down your use of the air conditioning it can benefit our environment. If your serious about conserving your energy use you can purchase a home energy monitor to get a better look at what appliances use the most energy. Replace Light BulbsRegular bulbs consume a large amount of electricity and are financially draining. They need to be replaced twice as often as energy efficient bulbs and that cost can add up over time. While energy efficient bulbs do cost more they last a long period of time benefiting you financially. Reduce Hot Water UseCutting back on hot water helps the environment by lessening your carbon footprint. You can do this by using less hot water, turning down the thermostat on you water heater or even insulating your water heater. Washing your clothes in cold water instead of hot, makes a huge impact as well. Trying these methods will financial benefit you because while you are practicing reducing your use, your reducing you bill. Use Energy Efficient AppliancesAlthough energy efficient appliances are a bit costly, owning and operating them it¡¯s actually saves you money. These appliances have a 9-25% lower operating cost than the conventional appliances we use. Since conventional appliances make up 13% of the total energy used in your home, it would be more financially beneficial to switch. Seal Air LeaksSealing the air leaks in your home or weatherizing happens most commonly around windows, doors and vents. You should go around your home looking for leaks such as these and apply weather stripping to close the leaks. Keeping these leaks open contribute to high energy bills because the escaped air causes us to have to adjust the thermostat more to actually feel comfortable. Install Solar PanelsYour may be wondering how does solar energy work. Solar power reduces our dependence of fossil fuels by turning the sun¡¯s energy into renewable energy. Solar power helps to save the environment by reducing pollution by not burning fossil fuels everything energy is needed. Using solar power can also take down your carbon footprint. The cost of installing panels can be reduced as well through tax credits from your local, state and federal governments. Replace WindowsReplacing your single paned windows with double paned windows protects your home by preventing heat loss. I recommend switching back to the single paned windows during the summer to keep it from being so hot in your home. Making this change can cut down on your expenses $20-95 each year in savings. You can also use window shades, shutters, screens and awnings to create a layer of protection between your home and the elements. Making the effort can ensure that less GHG emissions enter our already damaged atmosphere. When we make an effort to consume less and conserve more we impact our environment for the better. Reducing electricity and hot water use you can not only save on you bill but also save the planet. It¡¯s easy to simply make the change to healthier life. When we all are practicing healthy living the impact of all of us can change the world. |
