Sansevieria trifasciata: a natural air purifier. |

Sharing my story with you all, my Aama(granny) used to plant this plant in the house near to the basil, to be honest I had ever thought and taken it as one of the hatrest and ugliest house plant in the sense of having tall and rigid dark green leaves with snake skin patterns and spiky at all. Growing from a childish girl to the sensible one, Now i realized the true importance and value of this plant, one of the natural air purifier. From a hatrest to one of the best plant , it has became my ideal bedroom plant with sweetest goodnight plant to an admirable good morning plant. I had planted this on a plastic bottle and an icecream pot and kept it aside by bed on table.
According to US Environment Protection Agency, the air inside the average home is five times more polluted than the air outside. See the real senario how the air pollution is increasing in alarming rate. Out of 7 billion people in the world, 7 million dies prematurely due to devastating air pollution. I totally can't stop breathing but to some extent I can improve the quality of air around me, and yes I believe I can be a changemaker for myself, so with this aim I planted sansevieria trifasciata, commonly called as the snake plant, mother-in-law tongue and viper's bowstring hemp which is one of the most popular recommended indoor plant for improving air quality. Studies including those performed by NASA have consistently shown the plant to remove the toxins such as formaldehye, xylene, toulene and nitrogen oxides. NASA, Whose study purposed to determine how to clean the air in space stations recommends at least 15 to 18 medium to large size plants for a 1800 sq. foot home. The plant purifies air by absorbing toxins through the leaves and producing pure oxygen. Most of the plant take away oxygen at night(in the absence of photosynthesis) but this plant gives off oxygen at night. So I meet the theme of World Environment Day 2019, ##Beatairpollution## from my side, Now its your turn... ####Beatairpollution#### Souce: internet, blogs and newspaper. |

Rosa i am so much overwhelmed by your words, every person is not familier with the multibenificial value of this plant, still there are a lot of plants such as Money plant , bamboo palm, peace lily, aloevera, Basil, ficus etc that has been best recommended for the indoor bedroom plant which can be best used for the purification of air to some extent.
Lets plant let's breathe fresh air

Hey there Sandhya!
When you described the plant, I was a little taken aback at how scary it really looks (LOL), but now that I have read more on how it improves the air quality in one's home, I see that true this plant is that for every person to have. it is true that the air quality in one's homes in much more dirtier that the outside, and this may truely be a game changer for every home to have.
Now that you have made it aware to me and many people who were unaware of thie precious plant, I am inclined to get one for my home :)
Thank you so much for writing a though provoking report! I appreciate the hard work you put in the report!
Warm regards,
Rosa
