We live in a world where water supply is something that we all can't live without. We need water for our most basic needs. We need it for hygiene. We need it for cooking. We need it for survival.
Water is such a crucial resource for all human beings. Nonetheless, its availability is something that hasn't been made completely universal yet. Just this Saturday, CNN published a report stating that Cape Town has entirely ran out of water supply. By water supply, they mean both drinkable and tap water. People in Cape Town experience an absolute scarcity of such a vital resource. According to the same report, the water crisis has been caused by a chronic draught that the region has been facing which can be attributed to climate change. However, citizens and tourists alike are finding solutions to cope. People are doing things like reusing the water they use for showers to flush toilets and limiting the time they turn their faucets on. In such a volatile world, I believe that we all have a responsibility to save and easen the access to the world's most essential resources. We all have a part to play in the fight against environmental crises such as this. |
