Love for Nature |
---|
Nature is the purest form of earth. It represents every naturally occurring living and non-living, reversible and irreversible resources in earth. By 2050 human population is estimated to become 9 billion. With advancement in science and technology, also increases devastating human activities followed by destruction of nature which ultimately results in suffering of every living being. So, it is the responsibility of us human beings to resolve the initial issues so that in future we can live a prosperous life in nature's lap. In order to conserve nature, it is important to know its value first. We must know that the nature has contributed us a healthy and peaceful life for our well-being and the fact, how unwise we human beings are to disgrace its contribution and exploit it day by day. Moreover, we misuse the resources and do not even compensate. Therefore, all these inhuman behavior lead us to catastrophe and natural calamities eventually harming ourselves and other innocent creatures. Hence, these misfortunes can be treated only if we rediscover the value of nature and care for the environment so that it can care for us too. There is a saying, "if you want to make a change, start with yourself". This statement hits my mind every time I talk about nature and environment, because you cannot change everybody's perception all at once. Human nature is influential i.e. if one person does some activities then it is spontaneously followed by the other people. So, if you begin with a small change by improving your daily activities, people around you shall follow it too. For example by developing a habit of using bio-degradable cotton bag instead of plastic bags while shopping, managing organic wastes in your kitchen garden or even by planting trees which will compensate the other tree that has been cut off, by not wasting food and water, saving electricity when not in use, disposing garbage in bins and maintaining safe and hygienic environment around you. By adopting this kind of green behavior, an individual could definitely make an impact within his family followed by society and country and thus the entire world. Hence, these small but wise changes in people lives could help people rediscover the importance of nature and its conservation. I am a citizen of Nepal. Despite having my original home in a beautiful village in Lamjung, I live in the capital city Kathmandu with my family to persuade better education and other prerequisites. Similar is the situation of millions of families living in cities who migrate from their villages to live an urban life thus resulting more crowded and polluted city environment leaving barren and untouched fertile land in the villages. This behavior has threatened the ecosystem leading major environmental problem in cities, in addition to lack of understanding of importance of nature and connection with the nature, which can generally be encountered in village areas. During my childhood, I used to visit my village once in every year and it used to be the best times not just because I was in a holiday but because away from all the city chaos, I could feel nature surrounding me the snow covered mountains, green hills, dense forests, sparkling shines of the flowing river and streams, echoes and fresh breezy air ringing all over the place, sound of birds, the beautiful sunrise, the sunset were the ones that lured me in and when I walked to my village by crossing the suspension bridge, through the stone paved ladder up to the hills, looking at the landscapes and scenery, I felt I was the happiest person in earth. I could see the local people and farmers appreciating the supplies that the nature provides them for their livelihood in the form of fresh water, fertile soil, climate and vegetation. They are the ones who are mostly connected to nature in everyday life. However, with increasing environmental hazards like global warming, climate change, over-exploitation of natural resources, these people are the first when it comes to suffering the consequences. Nepal being a developing country with poor farming technology entirely depends upon rainfall and weather for vegetation. Lack of proper vegetation shall result in acute food shortage leaving millions of people hungry every day. Therefore, it is utmost important to protect and value what nature has provided us and should not be taken for granted. People in both rural and urban area should be aware about the methods to become eco-friendly and protect nature. Government should enforce strict punishment against the violation of environmental rules. Similarly, environment platforms like Tunza Eco-generation which inspires supports and encourages youths from all over the world to contribute to environment and green living should be prioritized. Last but not least, it is the individual who needs to have the feeling of love, care and respect for the nature and be with nature for nature to be with us. |
