World Environment Day Celebrations #WED2017

*It has been a long time since I have posted on Ecogeneration. Hey to all my old friends and also to my new Ecogeneration friends.* I am presently studying medicine at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, the premier medical college in the state and one of the best in India. We had our college environment day celebrations after our classes. We had a people's representative coming over and inaugurated the launch of a vegetable garden in our campus and we all took part in planting the saplings. Also there was establishment of new waste bins in the campus. This event was organised by the SFI Medical College Unit and the College Union. By the way, I forgot to share with you a story that happened in the morning. My friend called me up and said that his mother got a Neem tree and he wishes it to be planted in the college in the name of our batch. This was a splendid idea. It would have been the first time a class plants a tree in the campus as a symbol of their batch. So, we waited till classes were over. Then, we started looking locations for it. Our campus is full of trees and greenery and to get a perfect spot was not child's game. After a lot of searching, we found a perfect spot in front of our lecture halls. Then one of my friends got a spade and started digging and making a proper hole for this sampling to rest. It was a fun filled endeavour. As soon as we dug the hole, all of us, about 10 of us were present (from the 200 of our batch) and we jointly placed the sapling on the ground and filled the hole with soil and we watered it too. It looked beautiful. 😍 We were mesmerised and awed. And we believe that this was just a beginning of the numerous small acts that we would indulge in which would later create big impacts. This small Neem sapling would soon grow into a tree. And years later, when we come back to college, when we see this tree ,we are going to have a rewind of our entire college life and it would stay as a symbol forever. After this, we took a photo and posted it on social media with the below description hoping to inspire more of our friends in our college and other colleges to indulge in environmental activities and *Connect to Nature* and make our Mother Nature Great Again. 😀 "And today on World Environment Day 2017, we 2k16 MBBS proudly plant our Neem tree as a symbol of us and we hope that it stays forever and signifies our growth and it stays as our signature for ever. 😘😍"
