Earth Day has just come! April 22^nd, 2017.

-Yogyakarta, Indonesia-

Keluarga Mahasiswa Fakultas Kehutanan Universitas Gadjah Mada or KM FKT UGM (Family of Student of Faculty of Forestry in Universitas Gadjah Mada) consists of ten organizations, these are Student Executive Organization, Student Legislative Organization, Forestry Study Club, Forestry Art Community, Silvagama Nature Care Taker, Family of Moslem Forester, Family of Forest Management Student, Family of Forest Resource Conservation Student, Family of Forest Product Technology Student, Family of Silviculture Student, Family of Christian and Catholic Forester, and International Forestry Student Association Local Committee Universitas Gadjah Mada. Earth Day, we call it ?Hari Bumi? is the annual biggest event in our faculty. We gathers as one to give and give more to our mother earth.

The euphoria of Earth Day at KM FKT UGM has been felt since the end of March to April. Many activities are held by each organization in order to celebrate Earth Day.

Forestry Study Club organized a beach cleaning activity at Pandansari Beach, Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Silvagama Nature Care Taker organized Wanagama Rally XIV which is Wanagama Forest exploring competition for high school student.

The Family of Forest Management Student organized Indonesian Forestry Olympiad which is participated by tens of senior high schools throughout Indonesia. The event is held for 3 days and consists of youth initiative, skillful foresters, and a wits contest.

International Forestry Student Association Local Committee of Gadjah Mada University organized ICASA (Integrated Conservation and Social Act) in Kaliurang Timur from April 21st to 22nd, 2017. ICASA invited Center of Animal Health to educate villager how to manage their livestocks and Dr. Ir. Ery Faridah, M.Sc. (lecturer in Faculty of Forestry Universitas Gadjah Mada) as a solver of the problems that have been faced by villager.

Student Executive Organization organized BAG (Bring and Gain) which is an event to exchange used paper and plastic bottles with goodie bag as a means of reducing waste. Student Executive Organization also held a photography competition for BAG participants.

Right on April 22^nd, KM FKT UGM held a long march in the heart of Yogyakarta, Malioboro street, along ? 2 km during the day. Everyone brings the campaign attributes of posters, mascots, paintings, stickers, and other attributes that come from used goods. In front of a crowded mall, we distribute tree seedling for free and give them a message to keep the environment. Some of us carried trash bags that were used to pick up trash around the road. We told that rubbish is a personal responsibility, so no need to be shared with others. In the middle of the day, some of us gave speeches to voice the safety of the earth. Earth Day action concludes with a theater from Forestry Art Community. In this long march, KM FKT succeeded in inviting Faculty of Mathematics and Science UGM, Faculty of Agricultural Technology UGM, Faculty of Biology UGM, Diploma of Forest Management UGM, to jointly campaign awareness to save the earth. This event is enough to seize the attention of people who are on the road Malioboro and who cross this road. Hopefully the parties who fight for the safety of the earth is increasing gradually.

In the next day, April 23^rd, 2017, KM FKT decided to choose Bulak Salak village in Mount Merapi slope as a place to celebrate Earth Day 2017. Bulak Salak Village has a huge potency of bamboo. Also, local people have high enthusiams and positive responds for developing eco-tourism bamboo, then we are helping them to spread information about their potency. We hope that the eco-tourism will help the welfare of society there to be increased. KM FKT has a plan to make the village to be our concern in supporting and educating them about bamboo eco-tourism a year ahead. And, this moment just the beginning of our sustainable program. We also educate the children in Bulak Salak about environmental through games. All elements of KM FKT UGM actively participates in the event.

At the end, we are happy that we are not the one who care about earth. People out there as well. So, together we can make our earth happier.
