To commemorate the Earth Day, I took part in the myBee?ah walkathon, 2014. This year?s the myBee'ah Walkathon which took place on April 22 at Sharjah?s Qanat Al Qasba Park and coincided with Earth Day 2014.
The Bee'ah walkathon saw the participation of people from all walks of the society. More than 2,000 participants took place in the walkathon all of them eager to make positive environmental change across the emirate.
The walkathon was hosted by Bee?ah – the Middle East?s leading and award winning integrated environmental and waste management company. This the third year I participated in the Walkathon, and this year I took a step forward with Green Globe members volunteering for the Bee'ah walkathon. Nearly 20 Green Globe volunteers took care of registration and hand out of T – shirts, bags and caps.
We were given Certificates Of Appreciation for our dedication in helping out with the smooth running of the event.
In addition to various giveaways, informative brochures and leaflets were distributed by Green Globe members throughout the Walkathon to highlight key environmental matters such as pollution prevention.
The walkathon entailed a 4km walk from Al Qasba in to the Al Majaz Waterfront.
At the end of the walk, attendees were able to indulge in a plethora of outdoor activities – ranging from face painting to jumping mats, games and a photo booth.
The walk in all was a memorable experience and deepened the public's knowledge on the environment. It was a day spent well for the cause of the environment.
