Earth, how friendly and beautiful you were. Back in the days, when all you exude was goodness.
Your ever refreshing air,a good sequence of rain,moderate sunshine, the green leaves that covered your surface, the healthy trees that dance joyfully to your goodness allowing us fresh air, the land that was always fertile growing all that was planted in it,the water flowed peacefully along its channel allowing us to happily admire from afar,the wind hardly blew dangerously,domestic and wild creatures were living as healthy as ever,the sky always had colours that made us happy, moving gently and sometimes speedily but we were always relaxed knowing it's for our good,the fishes were enjoying an enviable live in their habitat, the weather and climate were so favourable and predictable.

It was a time when the songs of the birds meant so much to us,when the clap of the oceanwe love to behold, when the live of the fishes were almost uninterrupted, when the atmosphere released liquid that we were not afraid to come in contact with, when the dance of the trees gave so much satisfaction,when the romance of the air was priceless, when the soil gave the food we desire, when our wildlife were living peacefully,when the turbulence of the ocean waves had respect for mankind.
It was a time when you could feel the caring touch of earth,that  time was worth a premium. It was one to cherish and relishthe yesteryears, the utterly good old days.

And then, slowly but consistently man began to lose it with the ever-faithful environment. Man was increasingly growing wiser and felt he needed to try new things without thinking of how it will affect mother earth.
So, over some years, earth could no longer cope with this fractured relationship,it had to give back what it was given as it can only give what it has.
Hence, it's now giving man acid rain, flooding, suicidal wind,carbon filled environment, global warming, water borne diseases owing to pollution and generally,an undesired environment.

However, the good thing here is that this broken relationship can be repaired. We know how careful we used to be while dealing with mother earth when the days were good,we can still be. We can reduce our use of fossil fuels, we can reduce the rate of deforestation, we can construct better drainages to protect our water bodies from pollution, we can stop bush burning to return our soil to its natural state, we can reduce global warming, we can make mother earth happy again can't we? We can!

As the world celebrates the International Mother Earth Day, let's focus our energy on how to make our planet carbon free,let's return its once abundant green cover,let's make our planet green again.
Oh my lovely earth,we call her mother earth and we need to make her feel like one,to love and guarantee her care,we need to return smiles to the face of the sky.

WHAT I DID TODAY FOR 2014 EARTH DAY(I CHOSE TO CREATE AWARENESS)

As part of my contribution to the Earth Day,I was LIVE on my university Radio station,UNIZIK FM AWKA,which I am one of their presenters(pictures below),today and I made a plea to our audience in over five Nigerian states encouraging them to plant trees while highlighting the importance of a green earth.
Very few,if any,in my community know of the International Earth Day and I was glad to bring it to their notice,to get them thinking of how to help save the environment and I am confident my pleas will yield positive results.

Happy Earth Day celebrations, plant a tree today. I have planted mine.
