June 2 - the Day to observe

Attempt for Guinness World Record - More than just a record

June 2 is celebrated as the Social Forestry Day. People in Bhutan celebrate the day by reforestation and afforestation. School going kids, government officials and communities are engaged in the program. In just over a decade, there were 200,000 trees planted all over Bhutan. The day still continues today.

Next year, on 2 June, 2015 in coinciding the 60th Birth Anniversary of the Fourth King of Bhutan, Mass Tree Plantation (A Guinness World Record Attempt) will be held somewhere in a region in Bhutan. Hundreds and hundreds of saplings will be planted and the world will observe what this small nation will do. Everybody is excited for the grand event and more to come is the participants who will be participating in the event. But this is more than just a World Record attempt.

Indeed an exemplary initiative by Bhutan. But it is more than just a World Record Attempt. The Mass Tree Plantation signifies the attention that the ecosystem needs from the world today. The air pollution being the harsh one. And there is no turning back to what has already happened.

But there is hope in cooperation and there are hopes in innovation. Togetherness is all we can do and the solution I can perceive for the moment. I hope you pack your bags and come to this tiny nation and be a part of this moment.

Remember the power of a tree from the movie, A Thousand Words

@Mondher and @Sarvag Yes. Engraving the charm of professional development from such an early age is critical, important and also, very vital. I can see the support from the world through your actions (and everybody here). I hope that such differences can bring about global participation.

@Jenna and @Bindu Greetings from Bhutan and I appreciate the time you took to read over the article. I think not only the locals here, you should also participate in this program. I can find an arrangement for your participation here so that it becomes a grand celebration.

@Rohan I appreciate your comment and your positiveness for the event. And I am defintely looking forward for the program myself. With regard to the plantation, I presune that there will atleast be 100,000 or more saplings planted. But I am not sure? It may be more...

All the best to Bhutan, Karma. This is a noble cause & more than planting trees, taking care of the saplings till they mature is also important.
I hope Bhutan break this record.
btw how many saplings are planned?

@Nayheak KHUN Most of these activities are done on the government land itself and even the private owners are not reluctant to participate. In Bhutan, there is a system known as land kidu(meaning - granting of land to the needy ones) by the King himself. This enhances the people's participation. :-)

Sam in the Philippines. The Government will give the land to those organizations that maintain and take care of that land. :)

Hope more programs and projects will be established regarding this matter and also to the youth empowerment. Nice Karma!
