Bamboo Bikes in Ghana

by | 23-01-2016 20:39 recommendations 0

As we know all bicycles are eco-friendly, but some are more eco-friendly than others.

Like the bikes which are being made in Ghana. The Ghana Bamboo Bikes, a small firm in Ghana, that makes bicycles using native bamboo.Bernice Dapaah, a Diploma holder in Human Resource Management and Marketing from the Institute of Commercial Management in the United Kingdom, and Bachelors in Business Administration from the Christian Service University College in Kumasi Ghana, founded Ghana Bamboo bikes. She wanted to do something of her own, in her hometown, using natural, local raw materials. She is also the World Bamboo Ambassador, and was appointed by the World Bamboo Organization.

Ghana Bamboo Bikes are organic, sustainable, non-polluting and recyclable. These bikes also help reduce carbon emissions by up to 70 percent and avoid the almost 5 kg of CO2 emissions that steel bicycle frames would release.

Ghana Bamboo Bikes is a socio-ecological green initiative that addresses problems of climate change, poverty, rural-urban migration and high unemployment among the youth in rural Ghana. This is achieved by creating employment opportunities and sustainable livelihood job skills for the youth through the building of high quality handcrafted second generation bamboo bikes for the international export markets.

People who want to order one of these, you can go to Ghana Bamboo Bike's official website.
