World Report View

How long can this go on?

by Aaditya Singh | 22-05-2013 12:40 recommendations 0

Plastic Pollution- a man-made global catastrophe.

Annually approximately over 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide. More than one million bags are used every minute. More than half of these bags are used just once and then thrown away. Plastic particles in the oceans attract toxins. These enter the food chain even if we decide not to care about marine life, which we should not do, we must not forget that we are at the top of that food chain.

Over the last 60 years plastic has become central to our lives and mankind has subjected the planet to a tsunami of plastic waste. Plastic Oceans provides a powerful and effective platform campaigning for, supporting and funding targeted solutions aimed at significantly reducing plastic pollution in the environment.

Please see this video- It is not too late and each one of us can make a difference.

First we have to put an end to our own use of plastics. Then go out and try to change others too. We have to lead by example.

Thank you Aaditya. It's really important information.
This is the reason I always bring a big bag. Not to use any plastic bag.
Hope many people follows this movement.

Thanks Aaditya for emphasising this point again. It pains me a lot to see people still using /misusing plastic.
