Nepal successfully completed 365 days of no poaching of one horned rhinoceros, tigers and elephants in the year 2015 too. Nepal completed one year of zero poaching starting from May 2, 2014 A.D. to May 2, 2015 A.D.The announcement was made public on the occasion of first World Wildlife Day, amidst an event organized in the capital where nineteen organizations, including WWF Nepal, who made significant contribution to achieve the success of zero poaching were felicitated by the Governement of Nepal. To mark the success, the Government of Nepal organized a national level celebration on February 7, 2016 in Chitwan, a home to second largest population for greater one-horned rhinos in the world.

Madhav Khadka, Manager - Wildlife Trade Monitoring, WWF Nepal along with 12 other individuals and 8 organizations including WWF Nepal are felicitated for their critical contribution to make zero poaching a success. The success of Zero Poaching is a result of combined effort from local communities, enforcement agencies and policy makers at national level.  The result of ?National Rhino Count 2015? was disclosed on May 5, 2015 at Chitwan National Park (CNP) just 2 days after the country made a record of no poaching of rhinos, tigers and elephants for the past year. According to the count, a total of 645 individuals of greater one horned rhinoceros (Rhinoceros unicornis) was recorded in the country which is 111 more than the count of 2011 which stood at 534 and the number is increasing. In CNP, there are 605 rhinos recorded. It is really a pride for us as endangered species like One horned Rhinos are being saved in Nepal with zero poaching.
