Though the program was held long ago on 4-6 August in 2015 A.D, I wanted to share my experiences in world report. After the devastating earthquake hit on Nepal on April of 2015, many villages in hilly regions got badly affected. I wanted to help the victims anyhow and one day, I heard of an organization ECCA ( Environmental Camps for conservation awareness) which was conducting training program for rural victimized students of Sindhupalchowk district which was one of the badly affected area due to earthquake. I gave my application and was selected too.
I went to Kathmandu and got three days training there with many new friends. After training on various fun, creative games related to conservation awareness and leadership development, we were divided to different groups. We were 6 in one group and we headed to Pipaldanda of Sindhupalchok. We got school named Dakshinkali lower secondary school where we conducted three days training to the students including afforestation program. During the program, we tried to connect the students with nature through colourful clay arts making and story telling through masks of different animals. We taught them about ecosystems and importance of nature conservation like forests, wild animals and birds. We gave sports materials to the school and distributed snacks for three days under ECCA. The smiles on the children and the camping were my cherishing memories. The students enjoyed doing afforestation. They learnt that it is done to check landslides on bare hills by planting trees on it. It was the volunteering act for me and I would do it whenever I get chance for the satisfaction in myself.
