Chitwan National Park, popular for the rare species of the one-horned rhino and Bengal tiger, has witnessed zero poaching in the  two consecutive years gone by, thanks to the steps taken for its protection by the concerned authorities and hope this will continue for many more years.

Wildlife is biodiversity wealth of nation. Poaching robs these valuable assets of nation. Conservation of our vital wildlife species and fighting against wildlife crime has always been concern for Nepal. Thus different laws and regulations was made to combat illegal wildlife trade from the past. This rhino conservation success is an outcome of collaborative efforts by the government, enforcement agencies, Nepal army, national and international conservation partners and local youths and communities. CNP has consistently achieved this kind of success in wildlife conservation in recent years owing to the effectiveness of law enforcement mechanism, proper co-ordination and articulation among the all stakeholders.

On the occasion of  WED, also joint surveillance office was established for the first time near to national park head quarter to make conservation work more effective. Nepal army and national park has been doing conservation and anti-poaching activities in  their own way differently. But, now with the establishment of joint surveillance office they will work jointly for wildlife conservation. Previously, in CNP  Nepal army has established nature conservation institution for the first time in Nepal.
