Ramadan Care Packages |

Every year I give Ramadan food packages to labourers working under the scorching heat. This year I decided to go a step further and help packing food boxes for them. Since many of my friends were travelling, I did this with two of my other friends and it turned to be a huge success. Everyday at around 4 pm my friends and I used to assemble at my house to pack some biryani in eco friendly boxes. I had arranged a chef that would make biryani in huge pot everyday and we made sure none of it went waste. Once we were done with the packing we stacked up the boxes in huge cartons that we collected from our neighbours. Everyday we would have around 170-200 boxes. After we finished the packing process we went to one of the construction areas near my house and distributed the boxes. There were around 250 labourers and in case we fell short of biryani, we had prepared fruits, juices and water to give out in bio-degradable bags. We did this everyday until the end of Ramadan. We made sure we used the same cartons everyday and on the last day we went and recycled the cartons. Overall it was a noble act towards the labourers and also the environment. I really felt proud to see a smile of their faces when I was handing the food boxes. I also felt a sense of achievement as I could successfully combine both environmental and humanitarian work.

The concept of eco friendly boxes should be promoted in more places.

Aww... so nice of you Anishka. I was moved to tears by your kind gesture (don't mind me, I can be very emotional). I am happier that you prepared them in bio-degradable bags. The source you give from shall never run dry.
