Tiny Ticking Time Bombs

by | 12-10-2016 16:04 recommendations 0

Microbeads, those tiny multicoloured beads present in your face and body wash's are in fact a significant contributor to pollution.
Never thought that such small things could cause so much damage.
Where products are washed down the drain after use, microbeads flow through sewer systems around the world before making their way into rivers and canals and ultimately, straight into the seas and oceans, where they contribute to the plastic soup.

Not only are microbeads not the best thing for our skin but they are also harmful for fishes. Why are young kids stopped from using the products which have microbeads? Because they're small and can choke on them. The same thing goes for fishes.

Some countries like the U.S. have already started taking steps against these products. Some major companies such as L'Oreal Paris and Johnson's & Johnson's have stopped manufacturing such products

Many such cleansing products contain microbeads

I didn't know microbeads posed such a great problem. Thanks for the insightful article. I believe the first part to solving this problem is creating awareness.

Eco Generation

Yeah, I've read lots of posting from Greenpeace about this. I believe it's because people didn't know much information about the harm from it. Once this issue is raised, the companies will find another eco-friendly way to substitute.
