World Agriculture Day

World Agriculture Day is celebrated every year on June 11. Norman Ernest Borlaug (25 March 1914 – 12 September 2009) is considered to be the father of "modern agriculture" and the father of the "green revolution".
This historic event was designed to celebrate humankind's most important activity: AGRICULTURE. Agriculture is crucial to each of the seven billion humans on the planet—it allows us to fill our plates every day (AGyours, 2016).
Agriculture, is an age old practice that let in ancient humans towards civilization from stone age and now up to the age of science and technology. Agriculture is both the Science and art of cultivating plants, managing land and rearing livestock in a systematic way so as to fulfill the farmer's needs. Globally, more than 60% of the world's population depends on agriculture for survival (FAO, 2015) and Agriculture can help reduce poverty, raise incomes and improve food security for 80% of the world's poor, who live in rural areas and work mainly in farming (-The World Bank).
With exponential increase in world population, it has become a greatest challenge on earth to fill those hungry mouths emerging every single second all around the world with declining population in agriculture works. More than 60% of population are engaged in agriculture in case of poor countries whereas that population is less than 5% in case of rich countries. Agriculture is crucial to economy too as it contributes to GDP and has lead many of today's  powerful countries to rapid economic growth. However, the scenario is crucial in case of developing countries since climate change is hampering directly to crop yields in those countries who mainly depend upon agriculture. Consequently, food safety has been a questionable subject for such countries suffering from recurring food crisis.
Despite of all these dark sides, we must actualise that agriculture is the only thing that can feed us and many generations on earth. It's time to awaken from the sea of misinformation on youths about agriculture that dirty hands can never fulfill civilized lives on this era!! Today's need is agriculture, grow your food yourself and only healthy agriculture can fill your plates with healthy foods ensuring a healthy life.
