Bat cave in Pokhara, A nature mysterious wonder.

According to the US. Geological Survey, A cave is a natural opening that is large enough to permit the entry of the man and is beyond the zone of the light. The caves are mysterious holding many secrets of the nature. The caves size ranges from small to large enough to fit a house .Study of the cave is known as  Speoleology and the exploration of the cave is known as  Spelunking.

Bat cave is the very famous cave located in the heart of Pokhara City. In Nepali language it is also called as ¡¯Chamero Gufa¡¯.   The cave is the habitat of huge number of horseshoe bats over the walls and ceilings. The cave is surrounded by the green forest  and  is on the lap of nature that also provides the treat to all the visitors.

Our excursion to the bat cave in Pokhara was a rollercoaster ride since we found the exit and entry  of the cave very scary and adventurous  but as soon as we were inside this wonder of nature we were mesmerized to see the beauty of the cave in the darkness.  It is a small cave having the huge number of the bat. But for the people having claustrophobia, a visit to this cave should not be in priority due to  high health risk.

The cave was very smelly too. We students, of Institute of Forestry had unique experiences inside the cave. The cave management committee charge a nominal entry fee depending upon whether you are local of the place or the tourist and that donation amount will be used for the proper management of the cave. Visitors will get a battery power torch at the entry gate to guide themselves inside this dark cave and prevent further accidents. One of the most striking part of the cave is the exit point as it is very tiny enough and breath taking to go through it.  Religiously, people believed that those who have committed the sins will get stuck over there. This religious mythology of the cave is also one of the major reasons for attracting the huge no. of tourist to get this thrilling experience every year.
