Zero Waste Lifestyle (Monthly event)

by Asmita Gaire | 01-10-2020 02:25 recommendations 0

Living zero waste life was not difficult in past for our ancestors, since they were not habituated for today's materialistic things and plastic goods. Everything was organic and either reusable or recyclable. Today, everything has been changed. I have been growing up with my grandparents, and more or less I also have a habit of living very simple and sustainable life in my home. In this period of lockdown, for the very beginning I have tried myself to get adopted to zero waste life. It was quite hard in the very beginning, but consistent efforts surely help to achieve everything. Most of the wastes are produced from kitchen, so I first started from kitchen itself. I reused every byproducts of kitchen. Every byproducts in my kitchen were biodegradable, except for plastic bag for oil. Now, I have replaced it by buying bottle oil which is entirely reusable for other purpose. I slowly started decreasing non bio degradable waste not only from kitchen but also from other aspects of my life. I used to dispose one dustbin full wastes to waste collectors in the beginning of lockdown. Gradually, I reduced it by 15% every months. It has been 6 months of lockdown, and yes I have reduced non biodegradable wastes production by 90%. Not only in my kitchen life or in study parts, but also in other aspects of my life, I am trying to make some change to reduce wastes production. I use stationery items like paper pencil, pen and ruler that are b and can be turned into junk art after their use. Those items are sent by Tunza itself.

It is seen that for the machine production of clothes, a huge mass of environment is being affected. Globally, 13 million tons of textile waste is produced every year.
So, I have learnt the knitting and crochet skills in this lockdown. It's my one of the hobby and I was very passionate on these stuffs. So, now I can prepare socks, skirts, hats, winter headband, purses, earrings, everything that I need on my own. Also, I use self knitted bag for shopping. This is my small step, and I believe small steps from every individuals would definitely help to bring a positive change.

Likewise, we must be very sincere in consumption and production. For this, we must buy the things as much as we need, not extravagantly. We must use energy as much as we need not randomly and in extreme way. We must cook the food in the amount that we need and consume. The food should reach the mouth not the bin. This is the thing that I have been inclined into these days to live a sustainable day and zero wast e lifestyle at my home.

This is my zero waste daily story, what about yours?
Let's live zero waste Lifestyle.
Green cheers!
