Hello tunza members

I am writing the story of conservation Heroes of Nepal to inspire the youth in conservation sector in this report.
Dr Ghana Shayam Gurung is country representative of WWF Nepal. He was born in upper mustang of Nepal which is one of the rural part of our country. He has spent his childhood as a herder of goat and cattle. He childhood become one of the best memory of life where he always enjoys with natural beauty. He has studied Buddhism with his uncle in childhood. He learned more knowledge about medicinal plants and Buddhist rituals. In his community snow leopard (ghost of mountain)  is one of the biggest enemy because it kills goats and cattle of their farm. But now snow leopard becomes his friend from enemy as he is actively involve in protection of this endangered species snow leopard.

He studied his school level in Jomson Mustang. Besides poverty and all the constraints his father always support him to move forward in his study. At that only few students from upper Mustang came to Jomsom to study. Then he has passed his SLC(school living certificate)  from Pokhara in 1st division. He came to Kathmandu for further studies. He joined intermediate science  in Kathmandu. After that he get an opportunity to study his further study in Lincon University Kathmandu. He has completed his PHD from university of Zurich Switzerland in natural resources management.

After completion of his study he came back to Nepal and worked as a officer with WWF Nepal in Kanchanjunga area. Now he is working as a country representative of WWF Nepal. He has initiated several campaign and program to protect nature through WWF Nepal. He is one of the pioneer of initiating community based areas and landscape level conservation which play vital role in conservation of iconic wildlife species (Tiger, snow leopard, rhino,) .Owing to his contribution in Snow leopard conservation he has also recognised  as Snow leopard champion in WWF network.

His dedication and hardworking behaviour always inspire all of us to move forward to achieve our goals. He is one of the biggest inspiration and motivation for all youth in rural areas of Nepal.
