5 Environmentally Friendly Products

With climate change presenting a real threat to our environment, choosing eco-friendly products can provide some relief to the consumerism that is destroying the planet. Products like paper towels, disposable cups, and water bottles eat away at resources that should be considered precious. Because making the environment a priority has become more popular, there are many different accessible items that are considered beneficial towards the fight to protect the world.

1. Water Saving Appliances

There are many household and professional appliances that prioritize the economic use of water. Not only restaurant equipment, but also home items like dishwashers offer water-saving settings and can optimize the amount of water that is necessary to run these appliances.

Another example is to opt for a water-saving showerhead. They are also called low-flow showerheads and can reduce the consumption of water by at least 50%. While saving you money, these showerheads actively reduce water waste. You can also install a handheld showerhead and shut off the water when washing your body or hair.

The concept of low-flow is not limited to showers. You can also buy toilets and faucet aerators that are low-flow, therefore, offering you sustainable options throughout your home.

2. Reusable Bags

Disposable bags are a scourge on the planet and are completely unnecessary in many circumstances. Rather than using plastic bags for lunches or leftovers, invest in reusable bags and containers that can be cleaned after use. When you go to the grocery store, opt out of using produce bags by buying and bringing your own reusable produce bags. These bags do not add any additional weight for items that are sold by the pound and can be washed in the washer machine for reuse. They are extremely affordable and come in many different sizes.

Speaking of the grocery store, you can ditch the plastic grocery bags to reduce your carbon footprint. There are many different options for reusable bags that you can buy instead. Some places even charge for using the bags offered there, so opting to use your own can save you money over time. Reusable grocery bag options are endless and can be purchased from many different vendors.

3. Reusable Bottles and Cups

You may have heard this before, but drinking from disposable water bottles can be unhealthy and it has negative impacts on the planet. To reduce the amount of trash you produce and invest in a reusable water bottle that can be refilled. This can help you increase your water intake as well as cut down on the amount of plastic bottle waste that plagues the environment.

If you drink coffee or tea daily, then consider buying yourself a reusable mug to keep your drinks warm when you are on the move. This can also come in handy when you go to your favorite coffee shop because many places offer to fill your cup instead of using one of their disposable cups.

In the same vein, refusing to use straws when you go to restaurants and coffee shops can also cut down on unnecessary waste that litters the earth. Straws are also harmful to wildlife. You can buy packs of reusable straws that easily fit in your pocket or bag for when you are away from your home.

4. Multi-Use Linens

Multi-use linens can replace both paper towels and napkins. They are especially useful when you are cleaning your house or accidental spills. Once done, just toss them in the washing machine so they can be cleaned and reused. Utilizing linens rather than paper napkins also adds a touch of class when you are eating your meal or hosting friends and families at your home.

5. Solar-Powered Chargers

Because solar-powered chargers are so popular now, they are an accessible environmentally friendly option to charge your appliances, rather than relying on your electricity. They also come in handy when you are out and about or camping and your appliances like your cell phone dies.

Protecting the planet is everyone's responsibility so consider switching to more eco-friendly items to reduce your waste.
