The group of local women (Shanti Ama Samuha) had a committment to maintain greenery in their surrounding environment in the program " Women Awareness Program on Climat Change and Solid Waste Management" organized by Tunza Eco Generation, a month ago in Bharatpur -5&6, Nepal. The well accomplishment of the program arouse the interest of  local people for environment conservation. The women in the course of the fulfillment of their commitment ,  showed keen interest  in planting trees around a cultural heritage and a roadside lying nearby their residential area.

As far as deforestation is concerned, it has become one of the favorite activities of humans to extract the assorted needs.  According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), an estimated 18 million acres (7.3 million hectares) of forest are lost each year which has been playing a considerable (12 to 17 percent)  role in green house gasses emission. In case of Nepal, about 25% of people are under poverty line and around 70% of people have dependency on the forest for their survival. This, ultimately is driving to the alarming rate of deforestation with 2% per annum.

Visualizing the  need of  a forestation to mitigate the green house gas emission and even a   interest of local people in Bharatpur 5 & 6, chitwan,Nepal to maintain a greenery , Clean Up Nepal- Chitwan organized a "Tree Plantation Program" on the date 2nd August, 2014. This program was conducted in collaboration with different organizations like Shanti Ama Samuha, Private Sanitation Office Bharatpur, Tunza Eco Generation, Nepal's Friendship Society and many other organizations. The objective of the program was to increase the local participation in environment conservation .

The program started at sharp 7:00 am with 35 enthusiastic local participants and other 14 participants from different organizations including Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Rampur. The plantation program was inaugurated by the local women's group president, Durga Devi Lamsal. Plants like Juniper indica (Dhupi),Cassia fistula (Rajbrikash), Acacia catechu(Cutch tree) and Eucalyptus were planted.  Around 100 of plants were planted around a temple's periphery and another 100 were distributed to the people for the plantation according to their selection site. The responsibility of aftercare was  handed over them. The program went for about 3-4 hours.

One of the local participant said, " We are very happy to plant trees around this cultural heriatage and  our residential area. Now , we have a hope to live in a healthier and greener environment. We are feeling so satisfied by forwarding a small step to ensure a healthier life of upcoming generations and also committed to forward our environmental friendly activities  in upcoming days." These sorts of positive compliment and enthusiasm of the participant made program well accomplished and inspired us to involve in environment friendly activities. I really felt great on coordinating such a wonderful program and I am heartly thankful to all the participants for their presence and support.

Plants are the utmost creation of nature for the existence of human. However, they are being depleted in an higher pace which is forwarding to the increased extinction of flora and fauna from the earth. Also, this has lead to the increased vulnerability of human existence. So, there is a urgency of plantation from today itself by each and every individual  to allow the living organisms on the earth for using their inborn right i.e right to live in green and healthy environment. The most important initiative to be taken  in order to make a earth as a green planet is to conduct the programs at grassroots level and involve all the people from different dimensions in making our planet clean, green and healthy.

Ishwora, you did a real good work! The participants must have learned the value of forest by planting the trees. As you mentioned, executing even a little bit can change the situation. Improving 1% everyday will make great difference in the future. I am so proud of you :)

First of all Congrats for this great tree plantation event. There are many benefits of planting trees. An average size tree creates sufficient oxygen in one year to provide oxygen for a family of four. One acre of trees can remove up to 2.6 tons of Carbon Dioxide each year. Thanks for sharing your green efforts. I like the caption of your report. Very well said "My environment is my responsibility" so all of us should fulfill our responsibility and have green ways of living .

Agreed, Ishwora. Recent landslides are the live example of horrors of deforestation. The areas where trees were cut was prone to landslides.
Plant more & more trees to ensure human existence.
