A Report on KEEDAfie- Selfie with Insects Competitions |
---|
Happy International Biological Diversity Day to all eco generation members. May 22, as the day is known for was significant for us as our campaign ?KEEDAfie-selflie with Insects? Challenge was about to end and declared the winners for the competitions. I have posted in detail about Keedaife in these links: Link1facebook link In this report I would like to share how we ran the KEEDAfie campaign throughout three months starting from March 5. Our campaign was one of the elected campaigns from the workshop entitled ?Use of Social Media in Biological Diversity Conservation? conducted by CEE India, HADNPRINT. Our team compromised of six members all from different region namely: Brojo K Basumatary (Assam) Thang Phymphu (Manipur) Rahul Acharya (Nepal) Ananya Seth (Delhi) Prashant Bhandari (Nepal) Shiwani Thakur (Shimla It was fascinating to carry the campaign solely through means of social media. A new experience for me. Probably for my friends as well. What is KEEDAfie? Its the amalgamation of Keeda (meaning insects in hindi/nepali) and Selfie. Major objective of our campaign were: 1.Increase the engagement of the youth in the field of biodiversity. 2.Create awareness by using the much talked about term these days ?SELFIE?. 3.Find out the varieties of insects and gather information about their habitat. Social media used: 1.Facebook- where we had our official facebook page.( We are univocal to the fact mammoth social media has highest engagement of youths) 2. WhatsApp 3.Google hangout Hashtag used: #BTRAPS #KEEDAfie Notice and advertisement: 1.We published our notice on various sites like oppurtunitiesdesk.org, yaprd.net and our very own Tunza Eco Generation which have handsome number youth visitors like us. In fact I even posted Ambassador Report for the same. Also SAYEN published our visions and objectives on their website. 2.We shared about our page on handful of environmental and entomology groups on facebook. Major Target: -Collect 300 KEEDafies -Reach 5000 people -Get 1000 likes on facebooks Major outcomes: -We were able to reach more than 30k people through facebook -We garnered 2100+ likes on total -We collected 66 elegible entries as KEEDAfie -Collected information about various insects including their habitat. Countries Reached: we had participation from countries like: Nepal, India, Philippines, Germany and USA ( we reached 3 continent :D ) We are thankful to Shailaja Madam and Pramod sir for their constant guidance and support. We are grateful to CEE India for supporting us prizes. We adore everyone for their awesome entries, and also for the likes, comments and shares that helped us to excel our target. Through the campaign we believe we had been able to make at least few aware about the insects role in biodiversity and made your regular selfie more interesting :D. Personally for me it was fantastic episode of my life. Made new friends, exotic experience, explored new way of carrying out campaign and made judicious use of my time in social network. In six word I would describe KEEDAfie moment as ? Incredible Insects, Phenomenal Experience, Biodiversity Conservation? PS I celebrated Biodiversity day by planting Bottle Brush Plants. PS2 It provides me utmost pleasure to share that we have come first on 'Use of Social Media in Bio Diversity Conservation' Workshop. Celebrating the triumph!!!
