Going paperless at Leo Club |
---|
Just a few week back on August 6, we had PST Camp and leadership Training held at Agriculture Development Training Center, Butwal. The training mainly focuses on leadership building and motivate youths to orient toward social services. After general training, we head into respected PST camp. P stands for President, S for Secretary and T for treasurer. So, every PSTs and PSTs aspirant go to their respective camp. In each camp, we are taught about manners and moral of Leo Clubs. We are also given instruction on how to manage our clubs, arrange program, manage members and recruit new member. In addition, we taught about changes in functioning of Leo club and also how to successfully organise club throughout year. Since, Leo club is highly formal clubs. One of the best part joining and being Leo is we learn manners and how to greet in formal way beside which is an essential part of Leadership. After all, we youths are the future leaders. Throughout the training, mentor mainly focused on use of the mail and social media or websites as tool to share our club activities. In fact we were even encouraged to publish e-books and souvenirs instead of printing them. Club would be given extra point for going paperless to maximum extent. This was really intimidating. And reason was very simple. Since the papers we use are all made from Trees. If our club go paperless, certainly to some extent we will reduce our carbon footprint. I find the cause very reasonable. Use of email and SNS are more effective and easy source to share information while e-books greatly reduces the cost inquired in publishing them. Instead we can use the saved money into our social cause. Additionally, E-books can be made available to any corner of the world as well. I am very positive towards this move of the LEO club. I firmly believe every organisation should promote paperless administration. Since, if we want to work for social and environmental cause, why to be burden and harm our mother nature when next best alternatives are available. Changes begin when I begin myself. PS1 I will share photos and details report of Ostrich farm visit( which is largest in whole Asia) and Lumbini (birthplace of Gautam Buddha) in my upcoming report. Here is the link to facebook page where photos are uploaded: PST Training and Leadership Camp (Leo Club of Chitwan Innovative) PS2 LEO stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunity. I believe to some extent i have been able to explain about LEO club ( which is sponsored by Lions Club, largest organisation after UN). Beside these, fellowship is another motive of LEO club. Unmesh absolutely. We need to pressurise everyone and every organisation we are involved in to promote as far as possible paperless administration

And some of the office and formal system are quite not so eco friendly especially use of just one side paper. Even if we use both side, half of the load is decreased. With time, we have to change our system as well.
Thanks for understanding report Arushi

Thanks for sharing details about Leo Club.
Since paper comes from trees and we all know that trees are the most efficient and best tool to mitigate /reduce global warming , we should cut down on paper useage. Papers are most used in offices for unnecessary printings etc. I also appreciate LEO club's move of going paperless.
