The whole world is singing to the tune of global warming and climate change. For the lucky few who attended the Rio +20 this year, they have learnt how to develop and address current and future environmental problems and policies.
20 years ago, young people were left behind because it was never their time. Now it is our time. Whatever we get hold of today stands infront of us tomorrow and whatever we ignore, leaves us a regret tomorrow.
As young people, we have to appreciate the fact that we have taken a leadership at a very young age. It gives us the experiences to shoulder responsibilities for our communities that touch their hearts.
There are a lot of opportunities for the young people in the field of the environment. Young people can benefit from green economy not necessarily expecting for permanent jobs from the central government. They can start a small green income generating activity that will protect our biodiversity and at the same time give them few pennies to sustain their lives.
Green living is the most sustainable form of living today. While saving on energy and so many other resources, life turns out to be green and affordable to all.
Have in mind that every step we take today starts and comes back to the environment. From fighting over natural resources to destructions, no one can skip the environment. We need green activist who will stand up and grab a microphone and make noise in the name of Mother Nature. Young people should promote peace through the environment.
When you green your small piece of land, that is when one can replicate similar practice to the outside world. Green starts with you.
