Greenpreneurship Challenge UNESCO Youth Desk Jakarta |
---|
Hello! I am Besty Berliana, Ambassador from Indonesia.
Last month, me and my friends from @UNESCOYouthDesk Jakarta, Indonesia coordinated an event named Greenpreneurship Challenge : Switch Your Business Into Green. The coordinator was my very good friend, Mia Amelinda, who's so passionate in green living. In keeping with the theme of Sustainable Development, this competition provides a challenge for the competition if the youth entrepreneurs dare to change the business to become more green and eco-friendly. Not only that, the finalists who entered into the next stage had the opportunity briefing, training together and company visit with experts in the field such as Ridwan Kamil (founder Indonesia Gardening), Gracia Paramitha (KLH Indonesia and the Asia Pacific Region TUNZA), M . Wise Junerosano (founder Greenerations), Devi Suradji (WWF marketing director) and many more. Adding some information, my lecturer in my college, Architecture Institut Teknologi Bandung, Ridwan Kamil was one of the jury for the competition. He made a "bottle house", house that concerned with green matter which also makes the house unique is the use of 30.000 bottles of energy drinks as the main aesthetic elements. The use of bottles, in addition to reducing the waste that is not biodegradable, it also generates remarkable building aesthetics. Well, this house won Green Design Award 2009! I think this is a nice concept when we can use the waste that is not biodegradable into a cool stuff that we use everyday, even we can make it as a material of our house! Anyway, back into Greenpreneurship Challenge, there are so many entrepreneurs that is so creative and innovative in making their business more green. The fields are so wide because this is a national competition, and at the end the chosen 5 finalist presented their business in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. We got a lot of food entrepreneurs, such as a girl who processed roots into a very very good snack (yes I got one pack D). The chosen three, got the prizess, that is funding to the business. One of the winner is Septian Suryo with Mars soap business, the soap that utilizing solid waste cooking oil. It is such a good competition to remind us how green living affects us in many ways, and we have to be aware that we can do our part even in a very small little things, well... it COUNTS! :) |
