The water deserves more

Gushing down the mountains, smoothing pebbles, giving life to plants and people...that crystal clear stream of water is definitely a pristine beauty, a treat to the eyes. But today we rarely get to experience this wonderful miracle of nature. And there is absolutely no debate on who is to be blamed. Water in rivers, lakes, streams or seas is just treated as a dustbin for every possible kind of waste. Toxic waste from factories to domestic wastes that we coolly throw away into the water is all a cause of grave concern. It not only harms the balance of marine life but also suffocates all the plants that seek water from these sources. All this decreases the no. of species that will be left for our future generations to see.

Below there are pictures of a lake that I clicked during my visit to Rajasthan. The amount of waste dumped in it is just unbelievable. The amount of vegetation growing in the lake is almost negligible.


I would like to ask a question to all those people who walk by the sea with their family or friends, enjoying the breeze and company but without realizing what they throw away waste into the water. How much time and effort does it take to hold on to a piece of waste and walk to the nearest dustbin? Isn

    Nice report Simran...Most of the times we take the air water for granted...few days back I have seen one horrible picture in gulf news of yamuna river with contaminated foam formed due to industrial waste t just the outskirts of Delhi ...it is just unbelievable!!!
