GREEN MIDDLE EAST 2012 – FORUM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE

by | 27-12-2012 03:54 recommendations 0

Green Middle East is an environment and technology exhibition and conference held annually in Sharjah , UAE since 2011. As an environment crusader, I attend such conferences and exhibitions as they are a source of great information and helps me keep abreast of international best practices on environment.

This exhibition showcased the latest in waste recycling technology. One of the main exhibitors was ?Bee?ah? – Sharjah?s waste recycling company.  Incidentally, ?Bee?ah ? is Arabic for environment. Sharjah has declared 2015 as its target year for reaching its goal of zero waste and holding this exhibition is a great way of involving its residents to learn to upgrade their awareness and participation.

To draw the viewer?s attention to recycling, one stall had a recessed floor filled with cans.  As a student, who one day aspires to be a technologist, I was amazed to see the wonderful waste recycling machines on display. Very soon, we should see them on our roads.

The most unique thing I was at this exhibition was a ?reverse vending machine? for light bulbs and batteries.

My Ecogen ambassador T-Shirt drew a lot of attention from the other visitors.

I visited this exhibition last year too, which was its inaugural year.
