E-trikes in the Philippines |
---|

This is exciting news. The Asian Development Bank will give the Philippines $300million to replace the regular tricycles (trikes) into e-trikes. They will start in Metro Manila which has 200,000 tricycles. It is a clean and green way of using transportation since the e-trikes will not use imported fuel. For every 20,000 e-trikes that they use we will be able to save 100,000 liters of fuel. E-trikes use batteries similar to what we use in our cellphones and they can be charged 2,000 times before they have to be replaced.

Oh.... we also use auto rickshaws .............. but they run on natural gas.........not any fossil fuel.......also that is economically very cheap........................

Well in Bangladesh we mostly use manual Rickshaws. (like a bi-cycle with a cart) So don't we worry about fuel at all................................

At present very few use bio gas for auto rickhaw in India. If many people use bio gas instead of fossil fuel, the pollution is to be considerably reduced.

Nice initiatives...any idea how much energy it consumes for re-charging battery and for how much km it can run with one re-charge?

The most of Auto Rickshaws of India are running in Petrol / Diesel and polluting a lot. But e-trikes are batteries driven vehicles , Green Vehicles.
