Visit to Integrated waste Management factory

by | 10-02-2013 23:50 recommendations 0

UAE environment day is celebrated each year on 4th. February. This year as a part of this celebration various school children have visited the Integrated waste management factory of TADWEER – Dubai. Most of the days? activities have already been reported by my fellow Eco-generation ambassador Simran Vedvyas. Here I would like to brief the learning?s gathered during the event:

1) Tadweer is using a German technology which consists of a oxygen controlled composting blowing system.

2) It provides high temperature atmosphere which eliminates seeds, bacteria and fungi.

3) The compost produced by TADWEER is odorless, rich black soil. Preserves water and nutrients.

4) Sorting out waste is a real big issue while we talk about waste handling. TADWEER utilizes 3 sorting lines to process 4000 T waste materials.

5) Another unique product we have seen is the plastic granules which is transformed from waste plastic (from landfill) to be used as raw materials for further processing into final product (gray in color, odorless).

After visiting the facilities we were involved with tree planting ceremony which was enjoyed by all of us. Three of our ?Green Brigade? members (myself, Anushna and Romasha) had privilege to plant two trees to mark the UAE?s Environment day 2013.

This gave a real first-hand experience on the waste management and enriched our knowledge base on environmental issues.

It's amazing how they turn waste into rich soil. We can handle trash and provide fertile soils for plants, both of which are good for the environment. You must have had a great experience. Thanks for sharing on an interesting topic :D

Thanks for the detailed report. It is really interesting to know that waste plastic can be turned into raw materials for the further using. I wonder due to the cost that this technology is not imported to Korea.. It is really informative!!

@EdoFirdausi : TADWEER can handle 4000t/day of waste

Blowing system : (collected from Internet)-

Blowing agents include compressed gases that expand when pressure is released, soluble solids that leave pores when leached out, liquids that develop cells when they change to gases, and chemical agents that decompose or react under the influence of heat to form a gas. Chemical blowing agents range from simple salts such as ammonium or sodium bicarbonate to complex nitrogen releasing agents.
