The National Agency for Waste Management (ANGed) has just launched an environmental action called "My neighborhood is great" (Houmti Tayara), in partnership with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
"My neighborhood is great" is a dialogue between citizens and Municipalities to discuss compliance with waste collection rules in neighborhoods. It is a question of designing tools of environmental communication for a better cleanliness of the Tunisian towns and villages.
A vast campaign of cleanliness is carried out in several districts in Djerba (an island in the southeast of Tunisia). It marks the launch of the new national environmental program "Houmti Tayara", from the island, in partnership between the National Waste Management Agency, municipal services and local associations.
The "Houmti Tayara" program, which will later be generalized to other regions of the country, has included six cities in the communes of Midoun, Houmet Souk and Ajim, in Medenine. "Houmti Tayara" made it possible to achieve a qualitative change in the targeted cities, through the suppression of black spots, the installation of containers and garbage cans and the improvement of the environment. In addition to that, organic waste collection and recovery points have been set up in parallel with this campaign.

Siwar, thank you for your report. Houmti tayara seems like an interesting environmental action. What I liked most is that I always thought citizens and a government should talk and Houmit tayara is just trying to do that. I wish to know how this action goes. I would love to read any news related with Houmti tayara. Thank you for letting me know.
