Ivory Coast is a country which economy is based on agriculture. Sixty percent of the population are farmers and depend on agriculture revenue to take care o their family. Unfortunately, today the productivity of their farms is decreasing, the crops are not growing like before and this situation obliges them to use more land for their farms. While using more land is not the solution,  but it is also a cause of environmental destruction.

To deal with these challenges many institutions and the government itself have advised people to use pesticides. One can assume using pesticide has brought a lot of change in the agriculture sector. For example, we noticed that the production of the farmers has increase. Also, the use of pesticide has allowed to finds some agricultural products in any season. Pesticide has allowed those involve in the agro-pastoral to see an increase of their cows or sheep or goat. However using pesticides is endangering the foods that those pesticide are used to provide.

Using pesticide is having a great effect on the safety of the food it is used to provide. For instance, many farmers who were using pesticides for their chicken ended up by contaminating their consumers with an epidemy called ?? Grippe Aviaire??. In fact, this epidemy which attacked chicken in 2006 and Ivory Coast killed many chicken consumers before being discovered. Also beyond the safety of the food, using pesticide can affect the environment. As a matter of fact, people use it Ivory Coast to grow crops. We notice that, the use of pesticide impoverish the soil. In addition to that, pesticide when used kills some small and scarce animal as well as vegetal species, and this leads to the destruction of the biodiversity.

As to conclude, we can say that pesticide is finally killing people and the environment though it is useful in food production. It is better the government will limit the use of pesticide and allow its usage for some specific crops and in some specific areas.
