No to Pork Barrel Rally

August 26, 2013 - This morning I went with my Dad and Mom to join a NO TO PORK BARREL Rally in our City. It was one of the pocket rallies held in different parts of our country to support the main one in Manila which was called the Million People March. Pork Barrel is like an allowance that is given to elected officials so they can do projects for their constituencies. Like our Congressmen have about P70million worth of Pork Barrel and Senators have about P500million worth or more. What were people gathering about in the rally? It was finding out that about P10billion pesos worth of Pork Barrel did not go to projects like building roads and constructing schools. Instead it went to the pockets of corrupt officials through a person named Janet Napoles who figured out a way to get the money by making up fake companies. I decided to join the rally because I felt that it was money that could have gone to better things like maybe dredging rivers and lakes or to projects that would clean our air and water and protect our environment. There were not so many people in our rally but for those of us who went it was our way of making our voices heard! NO TO PORK BARREL! NO TO GREED!
