[thematic] The future: Renewable energy infrastructure |

Thankfully, most students these days are taught about climate change. However, less investigate or understand the current solutions proposed. They may have an inkling that the polar ice caps are melting, but unaware that the arctic permafrost is thawing or that surface albedo feedback is accelerating climate change. And while carbon dioxide is typically rendered in their minds as the nefarious ¡®criminal¡¯ and accused of being the number-one culprit, methane is nearly 30 times worse while nitrous oxide is about 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping heat. And yet the cause of all these emissions is directly related to fossil fuels. I believe the solution lies deeply in a shift in energy and power source to the renewables. They are now developed by analytical systems, algorithms and AI to be well-managed in predicting the supply and clients' needs and calculating the costs to save and use the stored energy. Moreover, building renewable energy infrastructures are now receiving less rebuke from the public because governments often pay residents or owners of land royalties for utilizing the space and this provides an additional income to them. Some fossil fuel companies have claimed that they have already made progress with technologies, including carbon engineering and CO2 removal (such as CCS), yet their claims cloaked the lies underneath them. The underlying belief is flawed: it does not matter how much CO2 we produce, as long as we clean up the atmosphere later. But there is no time to wait. We have to prepare on both sides: removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reducing emissions. As renewable energy develops, the economy and employment rate is going to be improved and so is our air quality. |

Hi Yuqing Yang, this is a mentor, Sang Su Lee.
One thing that I wish you to include in your article is the reason why climate change becomes a problem. This article lacks the information about problem definition. If there is no problem definition, then solution can become obscure. Although the renewable energy is obviously good replaceable energy, this needs to come with the problem definition.
Cheers~

Hello Yuqing Yang, this is mentor Taehyun!
Thank you for the good writing! That's right! What we need is analysis and logical problem solving, but more than anything else, we need determination and execution. It's a self-evident fact that we can't afford to linger forever. I hope you remember that once a broken environment never comes back!
Thank you for the report!
Green cheers!

Hello,
Thank you Yuqing Yang for sharing this informative and a food for thought report. I personally loved the whole report but the last sentence, "As renewable energy develops, the economy and employment rate is going to be improved and so is our air quality.
wind and solar" tried to explain the fear of the renewables. Other governments and companies tend to fear the renewable sources thinking they will wipe out the non-renewable depending industries but it's now time to think in other terms for mutual benefits.

Greetings Yuqing Yang,
I hope you are doing well and is safe wherever you are.
As climate change has been burning issues lately due to the haphazard anthropogenic activities. So, if we continuously do carelessness in addressing the over use of non renewable sources , then this might end up as the great disaster in near future.
Thank you very much for your informative article.
Green cheers from Nepal.

Hello Yuqing Yang,
Greetings from Nepal!
Thank you for sharing such an informative article on the much needed topic climate change.Like you wrote, renewable energy sources should be highlighted more for sustainable developments.More solutions should be taken into consideration in this concern.
With Regards,
Puja

Hello Yuqing Yang,
Thank you very much for your report on The future: Renewable energy infrastructure. i agree with you that we are taught about environmental issues but lacks knowledge on current problems and solution ideas. I have visited some projects of renewable energy and knew its benefits in future.
