( thematic) Careers(Jobs) Related to Renewable Energy

by Nadir Huseynov | 03-01-2022 09:48 recommendations 0

Realizing the employment potential in the renewable energy sector will depend on ambitious policies aimed at leading the energy transition over the coming decades. In addition to the policies of deployment, empowerment and integration of the sector itself, there is a need to overcome structural obstacles in the economy at large and to minimize potential mismatches between job losses and gains during the transition.
Indeed, the work of IRENA and the ILO shows that the energy transition will create more jobs than lose them. An ILO Global Sustainability Scenario 2030 estimates that the 24 to 25 million new jobs will far exceed the losses of six to seven million jobs. Some five million workers who lose their jobs will be able to find new jobs in the same occupation, in another sector. IRENA's World Energy Transition Outlook predicts that the renewable energy sector could employ 43 million people by 2050.
The disruption of cross-border supplies caused by COVID-19 restrictions has highlighted the important role of domestic value chains. Their strengthening will facilitate local job creation and income generation, taking advantage of existing and new economic activities. IRENA's work on harnessing local supply chains provides insight into the types of jobs needed to support the transition by technology, value chain segment, educational and professional requirements.
This will require industrial policies to form viable supply chains, education and training strategies to create a skilled workforce, active labor market measures to provide adequate employment services, a recycling and recertification as well as social protection to help workers and communities dependent on fossil fuels, and public investment strategies to support regional economic development and diversification.

Hello Nadir, this is your mentor Hannah.

    Four reports in a row!
The research that more job will be created than # of jobs disappearing because of energy transition is interesting.
Although we all know and want the energy transition, labor market, facilitation and technology seems to be the major problems.

Thank you for your great article and please keep up with your wonderful work :) Happy new year!

    Sincerly,
    Hannah

Hello Nadir, this is your mentor Joon.

Proper education for people willing to work for the industry is required. I believe the manuals for beginning stage are important, as once they settle settle properly in the industry, they would gain their expertise dealing with practical problems. Also, more investment on developing/researching stage is also crucial too.

Well read your report, and Happy New Year.

    Best,

    Joon
