A Run for the Environment.
Last week I participated in a run themed #Run4Climate that was organised by Tree Adoption, Uganda and had a subtheme of "Restoring Uganda's Forest Cover", following the destruction of Bugoma Forest for sugarcane plantation. Participants ran from the starting point in Makerere University, Uganda to surrounding areas. Runs such as these, contribute to environmental protection. But how does an exercise do this? Well, it is more than just the stretching of muscles. During the activity, runners dress in vests, shirt or any clothing with attractive slogans and tags that advocate for climate action. These intrigue people in places in which the run is happening. For example in Makerere and surrounding communities for the mentioned run. Runs, among other awareness creation activities, are effective in that, they increase public attention towards the climate crisis and therefore inspire enthusiasm, support and stimulate self mobilisation and positive action. I had a great time exercising the body and meeting fellow environmental health and protection enthusiasts while contributing to the spread of environmental awareness at the same time. Hello Vivian, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
Thank you for sharing your great experience! I believe that the frequent exposure of such movements to the public will help to raise the awareness and elicit various other activities as well. I agree with Joon Mentor. We need the support from many people, so the first step should be increasing public awareness I hope more awareness will be generated so that more people can take care of the earth.
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hello Vivian, this is your mentor Joon.
Increasing public awareness of a problems should be the first step to solve it. Without the support from many people, not much progress could be made. Though the start of the campaign could be small, once it gains certain amount of people, it would roll like a snowball and accumulate its mass. Then, they could either give hands on solving the problems directly, or could help to solve it indirectly. On that sense, I would like to praise you for participating on such meaningful event.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
