"World Heritage Sites are cultural and natural sites considered to be of 'Outstanding Universal Value', which have been inscribed on the World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee. These places or buildings are thought to: have special importance for everyone." From the description above, Mulanje Mountain Biosphere Reserve fits the criteria to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Malawi, it's a shame that it isn't as it needs to be guarded jealously, it is a national treasure. We're all witnessing the mountain getting stripped of its beauty (trees, wildlife, etc.). It's worrisome and severe intervention is needed. What can we do? Malawi submitted Mulanje Mountain to be considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 17 May in the year 2000. Till date the mountain is still on the Tentative list to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. Fast facts * Mount Mulanje is a Massif, in simple terms A Massif is a large mountain mass or compact group of connected mountains forming an independent portion of a range. *Highest mountain in Malawi, tallest peak which is Sapitwa stands at 3002metres above sea level * Home to the largest vertical wall in Africa, the Chambe Rock Face * Also known as Malawi's Island in the sky *Home to Mulanje Cedar, Malawi's National Tree which is unfortunately an endangered species, with threats of extinction * Home to various plant species *Major source of livelihood |

Hello Happy, this is your mentor Chelwoon.
Did you take this photo yourself? I think it is a masterpiece! I also enjoy looking at ponds, mountains, trees, and blue sky... After writing and searching several articles, we now have a better understanding of what is needed to help the environment and preserve these beautiful places. What we need right now are immediate steps by groups of people!
Thank you for the article!
Regards,
Chelwoon

Hello Happy, this is your mentor Joon.
I could easily tell the beauty of the site! No wonder it falls into category of UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE! Such valuable sites should be preserved, yet in some regions including ones in Korea, are actually destroyed due to greediness. It is quite shameful to tell, but recently, some construction firms built apartments along side of the Heritage sites, and the site is under risk of denominating from the list. Hope Malawi could preserve it as well as possible.
Well read your article, and let's keep up!
Best,
Joon
