In next 16 years, by the year 2030 Dubai has planned to use Green power sources only for the power generation in the country. The table shows the planned usage of various Green Power generation sources by the year 2030:
The nuclear energy is a definite green source, but to raise it to 12% level is a gigantic effort from a nation?s point of view, particularly when you are starting from the scratch. Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has adopted the best global standards in projects. This has resulted in achieving 97% of Security & Safety standards. This is one of the best in the world. These disclosures were made by the CEO of DEWA in The sixth edition of the Annual Best Practices Conference in Quality, Health, Safety and Environment. DEWA has won 2 top honors at the 2014 MEED Quality Awards due to their efforts at the regional level. 1. Best Sustainable Project: Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. 2. Largest government building in the world to receive a Platinum Rating for green buildings: DEWA office in Al Quoz. Ref. & Source: http://greentechno.ae/dewa_office.html , Gulf News. |

@ Christy: Thanks for your views.
I know you have Japan disaster in the memory. UAE is seismic free zone & still they have taken all the precautions. The Nuclear power station is deep in desert, hundreds of kilometers away from human population.
Moreover, disasters make us more responsible for future.
There is only one way & that is The way forward.

I am already expecting the result! :) Thanks for sharing.
I agreed on all green energy items except the nuclear energy.
I am not so sure if nuclear energy can be a better alternative for the fossil fuels.
