Mangrove Rehabilitation Programme at Semarang (Adoption of Guludan Technique)

by | 04-07-2015 00:15 recommendations 0

On 23 May 2015, University of Dian Nuswantoro (UDINUS) students and IGAF representative conducted an afforestation program which was Mangrove Rehabilitation with Guludan Technique. The purpose of the program was to educate local fishermen and communities at Semarang Beach to rehabilitate mangrove forest, and to explain the importance of Guludan technique on rehabilitating mangrove area (fishponds).

The program comprised three agendas which were:
1. Mangrove and Guludan Education
2. Planting Mangrove
3. Learning and deploying YUNGA Badges Challenges

The program was so successful due to huge participation of local communities/fishermen. In other hand, the program will be monthly monitored by fishermen / communities after collaborating to achieve good management based community.

Lastly we thank DIKTI (Directorate of Higher Education), granting financial support to the program.
